About Mish
Dance has always been a form of therapy for me, although I didn’t fully realise its power until my early 30s. It’s a way to express myself, get out of my head, connect with music and have fun with the people around me.
I started dancing at three, exploring jazz, contemporary, tap, lyrical, funk, hip-hop, musical theatre, ballet, Afro-house and house dance. By high school, I was training to become a professional dancer, but after several unsuccessful auditions for performing arts universities and companies, I chose a different path and studied Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Sydney.
In my early adult years, I discovered the freedom of social dancing—unscripted, non-directed movement in bars and clubs. It sparked a whole new passion for dance: movement that was creative, playful, expressive and completely free.
